getting back into the swing of it

Back to work, back to 'real' life and back to cold old Melbourne. (And still no camera, thanks Canon!) And so my winter wardrobe finally comes into play for 2012. While I admit dressing for winter in glamorous fur and sumptuous leather has its appeal, there really is nothing that could prepare me for going from 30+ temperatures in NYC to barely 4 degrees when i role out of bed in cold Melbourne! Not wanting to be sucked into the drab and dreary blacks and greys winter dressing normally equates to, I am loving this Dianne Von Furstenburg dress that I picked up in New York. (I mean what is not to love about her amazing pieces!?) A classic belted at the waist silk shift, I adore the print and it's amazing color play on a classic spot. And because everything is all about back detail right now, I love the way it buttons completely down the back.
And if I can't have my daily Starbucks, my extremely hot soy from Cafe Q in Clifton Hill will have to do. Arrrgghh Melbourne, I'm home. When can i go again? x K

joining the army

London has gone crazy for khaki, and I am loving it. Stud collared shirts? Check. Camouflage jackets with juxtaposed bling pocket detail? Yes please. Oversized knits with studded shoulders? Don't mind if i do. And the perfect way to wear it is by teaming a great khaki piece with something amazingly girly underneath. (Especially loving the Topshop military jacket and lace dress combo above!) Don't feel ready to attempt this girly vs. tough girl look? Go old school and try a camo back pack. The perfect accessory, army style. x K

classic monochrome

Chanel Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2012-2013
The autumn winter 2012-13 catwalks were full of amazing goodies. Yes goodies. From gothic inspiration, to leather and baroque, and fabulous textures and tweed. Not to mention the come back of the pant suit!!!!! everything looks really inviting. And exciting. (Crazy I know, us Australians haven't even hit summer yet!) And as always the ever amazing Chanel never fails to disappoint me! So when I stumbled across this picture recently I felt it adequately summed up my current obsession with both monochrome and princessness. (Totally made up a word there, oh well!) Soooo perfect for now, right into summer let alone next winter inspiration. So while the US stores below get into the groove and kick off the new season, my suggestion? Do a KARL and get your monochrome on NOW x K

I was recently getting my black and white vibe on in NYC, check out the post here !

mexican blues

I have spent the last few days in Los Cabos, Mexico, finding inspiration for a little project I have been working on. (Hopefully, which I can share with you all soon!) And I immediately fell in love with all the gorgeous shades of blue on offer. From delicate hanging lanterns shaped as hearts, to the endless blue of the ocean, I was completely mesmerised. (And of course, the guacamole and fish tacos weren't too bad either!) My one regret? Not having the luggage space and/or ability to carry home breakables, as I would have stocked up on all the amazing pieces of glass wear Mexico had to offer! Sadly for me I am officially on the home stretch now. Can I stay? If only. Hope you enjoy the pics! x K

1) Hanging lanterns were gorgeous against the sky
2) This dome roof was part Santorini, but with a Mexican feel. Love!
3) All the blue had me dying to wear my cobalt bikini, teamed with white and silver is casual weekend perfection
4) I love nothing more than beachside dressing, especially tie dye
5) Amazing pottery and glasswear
6) Hubby had a hit of golf on this amazing course, while I hit the shops
7) Local tacos were a highlight

american dreams

I'm not leaving. There, I've said it. If only I could snap my fingers and make it true. I would love to stay long enough to attend New York Fashion Week. To take that pilates class I planned on going to. To go to the top of the Empire State. (Shameful, really, that i didn't have the time!) To just set out on foot and explore more (if thats possible!) But instead, off I go. No more gluten free bagels (yes I know, my thighs will thank me). No more morning Starbucks run. Back to cold old Melbourne. Sigh. So here it is. My last New York blog post. A snapshot of some of the true American moments from the trip. And incase I need to say it one more time, I heart NY x K
1) Sunset from my rooftop, sigh
2) Dinner in the Meat Packing district
3) I will never get sick of riding in yellow cabs
4)My hubby enjoyed a few Buds over the course of our trip
4) The WTC memorial, inspiring, and sad
5)The great Statue of Liberty
6) Magnolia Bakery, thanks Sex and the City
7)The great flag represents such patriotism

white magic

Dressing up is something I love. So dressing up to take photos for my blog, is nothing out of the ordinary. Whatever I am loving, or wearing to death, is what I want to blog about. At the moment I am obsessed with white, (as you can tell by my recent blog post on white here) but I am especially loving white lace. Enter Zara. This white lace dress is perfect for the ridiculous almost 100 degree days we are experiencing here in New York. Gorgeous lace detail, perfect length for both flats or a cute wedge and yet breezy enough to endure the scorching heat of day (and night!). If only my camera was that resilient! Yep, my camera failed on me today. Mid shot at the 9/11 World Trade Centre Memorial. Black screen = camera fail. Who knew?! So what was supposed to be an afternoon photo op from Central Park, ended up a spontaneous iPhone post as we waited for the subway. One thing I have learnt in my time here?? New York is never predictable. Gotta love it. x K
