london's calling

Have arrived into London after a very very long flight and an almost luggage disaster. Luckily for me it got sorted out pretty quickly, as it's way colder here than expected and I really wasn't feeling having no clothes to wear. (Read plane gear is not acceptable for walking the London High Street!) First day in is always a fuzzy combination of tiredness, too much information mixed with eating at weird times, all while refusing to stop shopping! Well official time is now 11pm here which means time to check in with the office, shower and fall into a coma! But just wanted to share a few snaps from my day. Hope the weather is warmer where ever you are! x K

  1. Tropical prints are making me lust after summer days
  2. London cabs are always well, sooo London
  3. Shopping is all part of a days hard work

london bound

Travelling for work is both a mixture of amazing and crazy. At the same time! And while I'm sure you think working in fashion is fabulous, (ok so I wont lie there are perks like shopping!) to me work trips are a crazed combination of too many sleepless nights on a plane, pounding the pavement for 10 hours a day (atleast!) and the constant worry of what if I miss a trend?! Add to that the stress of finding places where I can eat (hello wheat free dairy free diet), living out of a suitcase (how many times can I wear that tshirt hmmm), and you have yourself a crazy ten days (no weekend for me!) where the one constant is the vodka soda I consume before falling into bed at night. But did I mention that I love it? (And that I'm not an alcoholic?) Ofcourse I love to take along some creature comforts to get me through each trip, so here are a few of my favourite travel must haves. Plane time for me (hello vodka soda), I can't wait to bring you some fabulous inspiration from London x K

  • Metallic accessories are so hot right now, this is the perfect fits everything carry on
  • A mix and match black and grey wardrobe is perfect for travelling. This Top Shop scarf and RCS Cardi go back with everything. Love how the print on the back gives the cardi a cool edge
  • Peanut Butter bars are my go to snack for when jet lag kicks in
  • This Mimco travel wallet is old and warn, but is perfect for holding all my essentials

max it out

As summer becomes a distant memory, and the crisp autumn air (and rain!) sets in, I constantly look in my wardrobe and deem I have nothing to wear! And with Melbourne often churning up four seasons in one day (my wedding day, being a classic example of that!) it pays to be able to layer up your summer pieces, for a tran-seasonal update that will take you all the way through to winter. My summer days are spent living in dresses, especially maxi dresses, so I love that this leather bust maxi dress is wow enough on it's own for balmy summer nights, but equally fabulous when teamed with a faux fur gilet when the temperatures turn cool. For extra winter warmth, add a cardi underneath, giving you a contrast sleeve that's so on trend right now. Mix with boots and tights and you'll see more life out of your maxis than you ever thought possible x K

new york dreams

For those of you that know me, my dreams of living in New York are no big suprise. And although working in fashion has meant lots of travelling the globe (yes you think im lucky, i get it!), I am yet to experience the thrill of waking up in a foreign city that I call home. So...after many discussions with the hubby we are going to the Big Apple so I can study at NY FIT for the summer. (Yes NY, in summer!!!) The fact that for almost 6 weeks I will be able to call New York home has got me so giddy with excitement that I've turned my kitchen into a mood board...yes I am slightly crazed. But come on, its NEW YORK! So I ask you now, please please please share with me all the fabulous things you have done in New York x K

head on

It's getting extremely cold outside which means it's time to break out all things cosy and warm. While obviously that means luxurious knitwear, chic coats (yes I want a Burberry trench, BAD) and faux fur (and more faux fur!!) all of which I LOVE, I have to admit I'm a sucker for head wear. Be it a hat, or beanie, or scarf tied on my head, I feel like there is no better way to complete an outfit. Especially in winter. And so today, Anzac today (Lest We Forget), I deem to dress (my head) up and go vintage. I'm thinking what better way to feel happier about this terrible weather than to dress up and go out and feel, well, fabulous. Ok it's true, I'll be slothing on the couch later in my trackies (how Aussie of me!) but for now, I'm blissfully content. It's amazing what a vintage inspired hat and a 30 year old dress will do for you. Nothing ever looks bad when you wear a fabulous hat. Go on, try it x K

luck be a lady

Nothing says lady like glamour more than pleats, so I was extremely excited to find this dress almost forgotten in the back of my wardrobe. The spearmint hue, micro print and fine pleat skirt make this dress very perfect for right now. I couldn't resist toughening up the look with a faux fur gilet and ankle boots. Whats not to love? x K

make a statement

I'm sure most of you will agree when it comes to jewels, the bigger the better (yes men take note!) This season, a statement necklace is the quickest way to dress up the most simplistic of outfits. While I am especially loving this combination of bold silver mixed back with black (my bestie looked very glam wearing it today on our shopping adventure), I'm hoping to pick up one of J Crew's bubble necklaces, as a fun and easy way to bring some color into my winter wardrobe. The hardest choice now is which color (or three) to invest in! I can't possibly think of a better way to beat those winter blues x K

torn apart

I have always had a thing for ripped denim. Comfy, casual, slightly baggy, very ripped. I love the comments I get when I unexpectedly wear it with amazing heels and even more so when teamed with this fabulous ombre faux fur (which I anticipate will become my favourite jacket this winter!) I'm hoping this trend will stick around for a while as I have my eyes on this amazing ACNE ripped pencil skirt for summer. Sigh! x K

fabulous four

know easter was a few weeks back now, but im one of those girls that hoards the chocolate and snacks on it bit by bit (if my hubby doesnt get to it before me!) There is nothing I love more than lindt chocolate bunnies, and even though im normally a dark chocolate girl these few remaining eggs have been very tempting over this past week. Heres some things im loving right now x K

  • Easter chocolate - hidden around my house, found, then eaten!
  • Lancome Visionnare - i cant tell you how many compliments on my skin ive been getting since using this miracle cream. Invest now!
  • Bedside reading - getting ready for my NYC trip
  • Rag and Bone Newbury boots - I've had a major crush for a while and decided now was the time to splurge!

favourite summer snaps

Winter is well and truly on its way here in Melbourne, and while we all reach for our chunky knits, resist buying a million new pairs of boots and drink (well i do!) copious amounts of soy hot chocolates, I thought this was a good time to reflect on summer and start my new adventure, this blog! Welcome to fabulous for the fabulous, a place where i hope to inspire you with all things... well fabulous. This summer, I was lucky enough to spend an amazing month travelling around the US, Canada and the Carribean with my family. It was the perfect combination of amazing sunsets, a white christmas, way too many cocktails and the fun jump between wearing snow gear one day to beautiful dresses the next. And while im always one to plan another adventure before my first one has even started (hello new york in less than two months), this weather has got me in the mood to re-live my fantastic trip. I hope you enjoy my favourite snaps and that they bring a little summer back to your fabulous life x K
